Because I spent years of my life feeling small, I paint big—expressive, mostly nature-inspired works full of vibrant color and rich texture, somewhere between representational and abstract. My goal is to capture the energy or spirit of what I paint.
I started my career painting small, realistic pieces based on photos, chasing perfection. But when life shifted dramatically, so did my art. I let go of control, stopped relying on images, and began painting from within.
It was scary at first—facing the unknown—but over time, I saw the canvas as a space of endless possibility. When I start a painting, I spend a lot of time creating layers with words, marks, and color. I keep going until something starts to emerge - sometimes it's obvious and other times not. But I've learned to trust this messy, imperfect process. That’s where the soul of the painting lives—just like our own layered stories.
Now, I’m no longer chasing perfection — I’m chasing presence, curiosity, and honesty. Each painting is a relationship, a process of listening and responding.
Ultimately, my work is an invitation to trust your own voice, and to live life with color, courage, and authenticity.
I’m committed to making a difference with art. Illustrating children’s books with positive messages is one way I do that. My first book (True Colors) is about discovering the beauty of being kind. What a beautiful message!
